5K Run for Missions5K Run for Missions

Saturday, July 10, 2010   8:10 - 9:20 am

All Ages Encouraged to Join the Fun!

Download Important Race Forms:

Attention, All Runners!  Put your running shoes on and join us for our historic 5K Run for Missions!  In Indian Springs’ 120 years, there has never been an event such as this!

The concept for this unique run came to     Kevin Thompson, Board Member, who is a runner himself.  During campmeeting last year, he observed the number of early morning joggers on the campground.  Wondering if other runners would enjoy an early morning competitive run, he presented the novel idea to the Board.  The result is our exciting 5K run with net proceeds going to our WGM Missionaries, the Fullers and the Coppedges.

The Race Course begins and ends at the Snackateria, covering the perimeter of the campground three times.  There will be 1st Prize Categories for Adult Male, Adult Female & Child under 12.  Until June 15th, the registration fee is $20; after June 15th, the fee is $25.  All runners and walkers will receive a race T-shirt.

At this time, our 5K is not an officially sanctioned and/or timed race.  For questions, contact Kevin Thompson at jamkevthompson@yahoo.com

New Youth-Led Worship Service

Saturday, July 10, 2010 - 7:30 pm Main Tabernacle

A youth-led evening worship service on the first Saturday of campmeeting is just one of the new events this year.

“The combined service gives families the opportunity to worship together while exposing both youth and adults to a different worship experience,” said Laurence Coppedge, Youth Committee Chairman.

Following youth-led praise and worship, Dr. Dave Ward, Youth Evangelist, will bring the evening’s message.

Steve LuceMeet Steve Luce, President

Steve is a fourth generation Camper who attended his first encampment in 1952. In 58 years he has never missed a camp. His great-grandfather, Rev. George Mathews, was one of the founding fathers of Indian Springs Holiness Camp Ground in 1890.

Steve joined the Board of Trustees in 1984 and for the last 20 years has been the Chairman of the Youth Committee. During his tenure on the Youth Committee, the program has grown. Two new dorms were added to increase the capacity for youth attendance. His leadership with the Ropes and Initiatives Courses with the recreational program has become one of the most innovative ministries at Indian Springs. The Ropes Course teaches leadership, self-confidence and team work, but the lessons are always centered on trust: trust in one's self, trust in team, but most importantly, trust in God.

Steve has a B. S. in Industrial Management from Georgia Tech and a MBA from Oral Roberts University.

In 1981 he married Mary Lu Poates from Knoxville, Tennessee, where they now reside. They have three children who have grown up at Indian Springs and experienced all that camp has to offer. Steve believes that one of the most significant gifts parents can offer their family is involvement at campmeeting. He is committed to ensuring that the various ministries at Indian Springs are relevant for all generations.

Steve hopes to bring some of the vitality from the Youth Ministry to the Main Tabernacle while holding strongly to the camp's original message of Scriptural Holiness. He has an unerring devotion to the doctrine that has made Indian Spring the Holiness campmeeting that it is. Steve's vision is to continue to grow all aspects of Indian Springs so that everyone at Indian Springs can come to know Jesus Christ personally and that the message of Holiness will be carried through for generations to come.

Christian Movie Filmed on Camp Ground is Released

In 2007, several historic cottages on the camp ground were used as a setting for a Christian-themed movie, The Lost & Found Family. This movie was released on DVD in early November 2009 and may be found in your local movie/DVD stores.

View Video: http://www.lostandfoundfamilymovie.com/

The Lost & Found Family is a touching story of hardship, change, and the faith that God can make things better, no matter how difficult the situation appears in our eyes. It's a great reminder that God brings out the best in us when we show His compassion to those in desperate need of love.

The movie tells the story of a self-centered, childless widow who is forced by financial circumstances into an awkward living arrangement with a houseful of foster children. However, her heart was won by the love of the children and their Christian example. Rob Roy MacGregor's century old cottage was embellished with architectural features to represent the era of the film.

Several Indian Springs camp patrons were used as 'extras'. Over twelve tractor trailers and 100 crew members were on the grounds during the filming which took place over several months.

Production personnel working on the project were fascinated by Indian Springs. "I can tell that I am in a very unique and special place", one crew member remarked. "It's like being in Mayberry".

Nursery Renovation Was a Big Success!
See complete information about our Nursery.

Indian Springs NurseryIt began last year as a group of grandmothers of nursery age children casually discussed what could be done to upgrade our nursery facilities. Nursery Directors Marcia Pavey and Nicole Butler responded with a number of suggestions to make the Nursery Ministry more effective.

Rooms were painted bright, kid-friendly colors. New sheet vinyl flooring was installed on inside floors and brightly colored rubber squares cover concrete floor on the screen porch. Air-conditioning and storage were added.

Exterior repairs included an improved drainage system and new wood shavings so that the playground will be drier. A much-improved Check-In system featured an area where children were safely contained inside while their parents checked them in.

Nursery Director Marcia Pavey said, "We believe that young parents appreciated the enhanced atmosphere for learning. These little campers are so teachable. We have ten days to help shape their little hearts and lives toward Jesus - what an opportunity!"

Indian Springs offers a fully staffed nursery for Birth through 5k. These facilities are open for all Main Tabernacle services (11 am, 3 pm and 7:30 pm), including Bible Study (9:30 -10:30 am). Bible stories, music and age appropriate activities enthrall our smallest campers.

Important Information to Cottage Holders

Dear Cottage Holders:

Due to the increasing popularity of Indian Springs Holiness Camp Meeting, we have a number of people who are interested in acquiring a place on the grounds. There is currently a shortage of places available for those who wish to stay on the grounds and attend services. It is the desire of the Board of Trustees, through the Cottage Holders Committee, to encourage the use of cottages by enforcement of the Lease Agreement signed by all Cottage Holders.

Article 8 of the Cottage Lease agreement states: “Cottage Holder shall primarily utilize the lot and cottage for attendance during the annual camp meeting held on the Camp Ground. It is understood by Cottage Holder that the primary purpose of this Lease is to encourage attendance by Cottage Holder and the relatives and guests of Cottage Holder at camp meeting. Failure by Cottage Holder to utilize Lot and cottage for this primary purpose shall constitute a default of this lease.

Article 16 states: “Upon default in the terms of this Lease by Cottage Holder as set forth herein, the Board of Trustees of the Campground may terminate this Lease, and Cottage Holder must either transfer title of cottage located on the Lot to a new Cottage Holder approved by the Board of Trustees of the Campground, or sell the cottage to the Campground at a fair market price.

If you are no longer able to attend Indian Springs and use your cottage as stated above, please contact Paul Davis, pauldavissr@bellsouth.net, (678) 363-1668) so he can work with you to resolve this matter.

About Your Wheels...

Information about golf carts

Due to liability issues regarding the campground coordinating golf carts for campers, the Board regrets that it can no longer help procure golf carts.  This year, it is necessary for campers to provide their own golf carts.

Each golf cart renter or owner needs to register at the Business Office to sign a Waiver/Release Form.  In addition, the Board reminds everyone that the State of Georgia mandates that only licensed individuals may drive golf carts.  Please help us keep the campground safe!

For your convenience: Jenco Golf Cart at (770)775-6767 or www.JencoGolfCarts.com or Georgia Golf Cart at (229) 273-7332.

Cottage for Sale

Cottage #70, the Sherer Cottage, is for sale.  Information may be obtained by contacting Rev. Paul Davis at pauldavissr@bellsouth.net or (678) 363-1668 or at the Business Office during camp.

Does Your Cottage Need Repairs?

There is a saying that campmeeting cottages would collapse if the kudzu vines around the porch were pruned!  Campmeeting “architecture” sometimes has a mind of its own!  Some contractors may not understand the idiosyncrasies of a campmeeting house.

If you need assistance finding someone who can help with general repairs, call Ken Seifert, our Buildings and Grounds Chairman.  Ken will gladly put you in touch with contractors who may be able to help you:
