Healing Service Moved To First Saturday of Camp
Saturday, July 13, 2008 11am Service - Main Tabernacle
Healing is one of the three ministries Jesus specifically gave to the church. One of main tenents of the early holiness movement was an emphasis on healing. This important ministry has been de-emphasized in our day.
In years past, the Healing Service was held during the week. Since 95% of all prayer requests are for healing, and since it is Biblical and a major part of our holiness heritage, the Board of Trustees wants this service to have a more prominent place in our schedule at a time when more people can participate.
“Even if recent years have seen much abuse and bad teaching on healing, that certainly is no reason to not teach and practice this Biblical ministry,” said Rev. Tom Atkins, 2008 Evangelist who will conduct this important service.
The Healing Service will deal with physical, emotional, relational and spiritual healing. We will anoint with oil as James 5 tells us to do when healing is needed in any of these areas. You may come for yourself and also stand in for loved ones. Rev. Tom Atkins also requests that other clergy be present to assist with this special service.

A Tribute to Rabun Smith
Board Member 2001 - 2008
Rabun Smith was given a unique gift of seeing needs and fulfilling them. His life reflected this gift both personally and professionally. His love for Indian Springs was seen in his service. He faithfully attended camp meeting for over fifty years and had served on the Board of Trustees making important contributions to the Hotel and Music Committees. In a personal capacity his service was found in two much needed areas. First, he offered affordable homes to those wishing to have a cottage at Indian Springs. He set them up on the camp ground and offered them for sale at cost. |

When Rabun saw that many people required assistance getting around the camp ground in the summer heat, he arranged for golf carts to be available for those needing transportation. Rabun was gifted in multi-tasking: he was minister, lawyer and mortician. In all areas of his life, he demonstrated leadership. Rabun passed away on January 2008 after a long illness. We will miss Rabun’s love, fellowship and leadership. We are blessed that his daughter Kimberly Harris and her husband David and daughters Charly and Lauren continue as part of the Indian Springs family. |

Women’s Memorial Established with Bronze “Recognition Tree”
The Women's Fellowship at Indian Springs announces the establishment of a memorial for our mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers and other grand ladies. The memorial will be a 5’ x 4’ commemorative “Bronze Recognition Tree” with engraved “leaves” bearing the names of the women we wish to honor.
The Recognition Tree celebrates all the women who have given their time, service and care, as well as ministry to the family, workers and friends at Indian Springs Holiness Camp Meeting. It will be placed in the Memorial Building.
In 1911 the women of the camp organized the "Ladies Auxiliary" to assume some of the responsibility for the "needs of the camp meeting". The first year they spent $36.20 on practical items such as bowls, pitchers, lamp chimneys and maid service. Contributions grew steadily, and in 1921, they raised $194.24.
This organization is now The Women’s Fellowship. It continues to encourage the involvement of all women attending camp meeting to maintain our spiritual heritage, as well as the upkeep of the grounds and cottages and assist with hospitality functions.
If you want to honor a loved one, an engraved bronze leaf can be placed on the tree for a gift of $500-$2500. The Memorial will be used for housing, furnishings and landscaping projects.
Details for ordering a “Memorial Leaf” will be available at the time of Camp Meeting.

“My story about Indian Springs Camp Meeting is an example of the many miracles that God performs in our lives daily. The world often insists these events are luck or coincidental. God so seamlessly directs the paths of our lives that we usually don’t see what He has provided until after we have reached a resting point …that is, if we take the time to notice at all. Look how He works…… |
Indian Springs Welcomes Back Rock Springs Choir
The Rock Springs choir is known as the "Choir That Prays". It has over 140 people, including 12 orchestra members, who love to worship the Lord through song. The strength of the choir not is just the music but the prayer groups and prayer time. However, when one hears the choir, the music is outstanding.
Ricky Shepherd, Choir Director, believes strongly in the power of prayer. Choir rehearsals always end with a time of prayer. "People throughout the community come to our rehearsals to request prayer”, he said. At God's leading Ricky stopped a choir rehearsal to pray for a choir member who was scheduled for surgery to remove a cancerous growth. Because God answered that prayer, surgery was not necessary. The tumor was gone!
Last year the choir participated in a 365 day fast. Each day of the year there were at least 1-2 choir members fasting and praying over the music ministry. This choir believes that prayer is the most important thing they do and it takes top priority over rehearsals, special performances or travel plans.
The choir goes to many churches throughout the state of Georgia each year and performs for special events. Their prayer is that people will not so much remember Rock Springs Choir, but will remember the Lord and feel His presence in everything they do. Indian Springs is honored to have this choir sing again on Community Day, Saturday, July 12 at the 7:30 pm service.
We are pleased to share our Tape & CD Library from various 1980 - 2007 speakers in complete sets at special pricing, as well as limited selections of messages going back to 1962.
Our Library contains the preaching and teaching wisdom of many of “Indian Springs Greats” such as Dr. Dennis Kinlaw, Dr. Denis Applebee, Dr. John Oswalt, Commissioner Andrew Miller and more. In addition, there are several special testimonies from Dr. Dennis Kinlaw, Mrs. Beth Coppedge and Mrs. Joy Griffin. read more
