A Retreat Attendee shares her impressions about the 2011 Ladies' Fellowship Retreat:

"This retreat had everything to make it successful: beautiful weather, fabulous scenery with the extra song of the cicadas (some women had never heard them before!), a thought-provoking message, good food and fellowship with women searching for His will... all for such a small cost. The music was exciting and worshipful. The prayer time around each table was very meaningful as we prayed for each other individually. Thank you for putting it together!"

The Lizzie Project

A beautiful little girl named Lizzie inspired the Ladies' Fellowship to sponsor fund raising for home building and repair for needy families in Choluteca, Honduras. Lizzie was the first child to receive school tuition from the Indian Springs mission trip in February 2011. Since then, four more children have been sponsored for school. Money received from the Ladies' Fellowship was also used to build a house for Lizzie's grandmother, Ava.

A presentation about the work of The Lizzie Project will be given at the 2012 Spring Retreat. Offerings received during the Spring Retreat will be sent to our WGM missionaries, Angie and Larry Overholt, to build a home for a needy family. Watch this section of our web site for current updates and special needs of The Lizzie Project.

History of Ladies' Fellowship
100 Years of Service: 1911-2011

Our 2011 camp meeting marked the centennial of the Indian Springs Ladies’ Fellowship. Founded in 1911 as a hospitality ministry, the Women’s Auxiliary provided chimney lamps, pitchers and maid service to evangelists and other workers.

In 1940, the Board of Trustees recognized the Women’s Auxiliary as an official ministry of the camp meeting. Their purpose at that time was to care for preachers, musicians and their wives and children. A free-will offering taken each year was used for the upkeep of the Workers’ Cottages and to pay for furniture, kitchen equipment and linens. Membership was open to any interested woman attending camp meeting.

Our camp history for the 1990 Centennial Celebration notes that the role of the organization had expanded. The Women’s Auxiliary was now providing flowers and decorations for the Main Tabernacle and planting shrubs for the beautification of the grounds. It also helped to provide toys and needed linens for the Nursery. Support for our missionary families was also an important part of the ministry.

Renamed the Ladies’ Fellowship in 2009, this vivacious ministry now encompasses prayer retreats, Fast Prayer Meetings during camp meeting, the Annual Luncheon held on the 1st Monday of each camp, and The Lizzie Project. The Ladies’ Fellowship sponsors our unique Legacy Lady Project which honors women who have made a difference at Indian Springs. In April of 2011, they hosted the first annual Spring Retreat with over 75 women attending!

A new ministry for 2011 provided hospitality needs by ‘adopting’ a Worker’s Cottage to ensure the comfort of our workers and their families during camp. This new heart-felt ministry demonstrates that the founding purpose of the organization remains.

The Ladies' Fellowship is open to any woman attending camp meeting who desires the fellowship and involvement of our various ministries. If interested in joining, contact Rhonda Holton, President at nurserhonda_2000@yahoo.com

"Adopt a Cottage "

An Opportunity for Ministry for Ladies’ Fellowship Members

The first service ministry provided by the Ladies Fellowship in 1911 was the care for the workers. Today we still serve that need. Ten volunteers are needed to serve as cottage hostesses for our various Workers’ Cottages. The hostess functions include making beds and putting linens on beds, towels, soap & paper products in the bathroom and to ensure that the rooms are ready. Hostesses will meet the workers and their families to let them know who is their hostess for the camp. These are the cottages "up" for adoption:

Please let Elizabeth Lane, Chair of Hospitality, know if you can volunteer to help. You adoption will be confirmed. Contact Elizabeth at lbenlane@comcast.net.

The first edition of the Legacy Ladies book was presented during our 2009 Campmeeting. We want to emphasize it is just that - the first edition. This is a living project. It is our hope that as friends of Indian Springs read through this first edition, they will be inspired to continue the stories of their own Legacy Ladies.

These pages have been put in a loose leaf binder so that additions can easily be made. Each year for several years, a new edition will be compiled and pages can be added as family and friends honor those ladies who have left and are leaving a legacy of faith and godly lives. Eventually, we hope to publish the entire collection in permanent book format.

This year consider honoring your wife, mother, grandmother, special friend, teacher, or worker - any special lady who has been a blessing at Indian Springs and an example to those who come after her.
