Youth Ministry (9th Grade - College)
Indian
Springs has long been known for its dynamic Youth Ministry.
Many youth
leaders and pastors throughout the country support our program. Youth participate
in two services during the day at the open-air
Youth Tabernacle: Bible Study at 9:30 a.m. and the Evening
Youth Service at 7:00.
Both youth services include sermons and studies on topics confronting today’s teen, such as peer pressure, dating relationships, Christian characteristics and withstanding temptation. Music is contemporary with band instruments.
Young people can also take part in an exciting afternoon recreation program. This program offers swimming, boating, hiking, and a very challenging Ropes Course. Through the Ropes Course, young people learn team building, leadership and communication skills while having a great time with friends.
2008 Speakers: Leaders from Kingdom Building Ministries
Youth Tabernacle: Bible Study at 9 am and Evening Service at 7 pm daily. Bible Study, worship, praise choruses, friends, reception & ropes course.
Youth leaders Dave Ward and Brian Goldie return this year from the Kingdom Building Ministries. These dynamic speakers encourage young people to grow deeper in their understanding of and relationship with Christ through Bible Study, small group activities and worship.
Some sermon topics include:
Spiritual
Mission
The primary goals of the Youth Ministry are for young people to experience salvation and to mature spiritually. Strong emphasis is placed on empowering young people to impact their schools, local churches and communities for Christ.
The youth program is conducted in a caring and inclusive atmosphere that encourages fellowship and friendships. Bible study, prayer principles, holy living and bold evangelism are part of every-day discussion.
Ropes Course & Leisure Activities
A unique aspect of the Indian Springs Youth Ministry is the focus on learning spiritual principles through recreation, fellowship and the Low and High Ropes Course. Young people may swim and boat in the lake or simply converse while dangling their feet off the dock!
The Ropes Course is situated in a forest environment and uses all the natural elements available. Through initiatives, problems involving real obstacles challenge youth to work together to find solutions. Success is achieved only when all members have contributed to the outcome. Often it is not the strongest individual who makes an initiative come together. After the initiative has been accomplished, Biblical and spiritual applications are discussed.
The Ropes Course teaches leadership, self-confidence and team work, but the lessons are more centered around trust: trust in one's self, trust in the team, but most important, trust in God.
Although the Ropes Course is inherently fun and brings people together, safety is always a priority. All leaders have been trained and re-trained in safety and leadership techniques; risk is managed by group members who assume critical spotting roles. All equipment is inspected prior to camp.
